The Ashby family have been farming for four generations, initially in Saskatchewan, Canada between 1900 and 1910, up to the present day where we farm in the local area of Oundle, Northants. We run our business under two trading names, J.L.Ashby & Co.Ltd and R.J.Ashby & Partners. The farm has always been predominantly arable; however, we have farmed root crops and different types of livestock.
We currently produce Group 1 milling wheat, Oil seed Rape, Asparagus and beef cattle, mainly finished on grass. With many years experience in farm management, we run an efficient business with highly skilled operators. The costs of the business are regulated with the aid of Farmplan, for PAYE, Accounts and Crop Manager. We use benchmarking for all aspects of the business and produce annual costs per ton of production. Full Labour and Machinery costs are being applied to all current farm operations.
